The Olathe Historical Society House Tour is held every other year on the odd numbered years on the first Saturday in December. The tour begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes at 5:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at any of the homes on the tour.
The house are selected based on their architecture or because they were once home by an Olathe individual or family who contributed to the history of Olathe. The tour booklet contains some information about the history of the home and/or its residents over the years. Most homes on the tour were built between the 1880's and the 1930's.
Each year a local artist is commission to render a "street-scape" of the tour homes. The artwork is place on a coffee mug that is available for purchase at each of the homes on the tour.
Traditionally, the same day as the Olathe Historical House Tour, the Mahaffie Farmstead and Stagecoach Stop conducts a Victoria Christmas Tour at their site - 1100 N. Kansas City Road. In addition, the Olathe Community Theater Association (OCTA) hosts an OCTA Open House at The Buddy Rogers Theater, 300 E. Loula.
